Your Talents Are Valuable To God

God gives us all different gifts and talents and wants us to use them to our fullest potential. When His Temple was being built He did not have one person do everything, He had people of all different skills and trades working together to complete it. Some skills may have seemed small but look at what all of them put together accomplished, God knew what He was doing.

And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with thee for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee for all manner of workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.” 1 Chronicles 28:21        solomons temple

There were carpenters, goldsmiths, brass workers, lumberjacks, stone masons, architects, miners etc. It took different skills to build the Temple just like it takes different gifts and skills to build His Kingdom on Earth today.

“6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7  Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.” Romans 12:6-8

Jesus gave you something special that you are good at. Do not compare your gifts with others or worry if someone is doing something different than you are in the Body of Christ, your gifts were not given to you to impress men. If we were all an arm in the Body of Christ how then would The Body walk? Just like how would Solomon’s Temple have been built if only carpenters showed up but no one that knew how to work with gold or brass or one of the many other skills needed? God gave you your talents for a specific purpose.

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter4:10

What you decide to do with the gifts that God has given you is up to you, but He is expecting you to use them for His Glory and to help build His Kingdom here on Earth.

“23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24
