Satan Playing Cupid

This is the time of year when the world will celebrate Valentine’s Day. There is a character that many associate with this holiday called cupid who is a character sometimes depicted as an adult or as a cherub with wings that shoots an arrow into people to make them fall in “love”. While the cupid is as fake as Santa Claus, the Devil acts in ways that mimic the character of cupid. Many of the relationships that will be celebrated on Valentine’s Day are not ok with God and are taking many people straight to Hell. Homosexual fake marriages and relationships, adulterous relationships, fornication relationships with no intention to repent and get married all are authored by Satan who may as well be cupid since he plays the part well.

“9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

The Bible teaches us that unGodly relationships lead to Hell. The problem with these sinful relationships is that the people may actually care for one another but in reality are killing each other’s souls. The deeper and longer these relationships go on the bigger the web of sin they are in gets. Bills start to get shared, homes and so many other aspects of life that the web of sin gets so big and comfortable it gets very hard to get out and becomes a demonic trap. The Devil loves when this happens and will work to make these relationships begin and progress.

“22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. 23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.” Proverbs 5:22-23

Jesus would never bring two men together to form a relationship or two women. He would also never lead someone to someone else’s husband or wife, that is what the Devil does through his arrows of temptation. Jesus teaches us in His own Words what an acceptable relationship is:

“6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Mark 10:6-9

Just because a couple is a normal couple, male and female, and not in adultery in any way does not mean that God brought the couple together and they should get married. Marriages that are based on lust do not work out in the long run. The devil has no problem bringing a straight couple together to get married based off of lust and will enjoy watching them destroy each other’s lives and the lives of their children. Adultery, drug use, domestic violence, alcoholism, can all come from this.

“14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:14-15

We can not let cupid aka Satan be the matchmaker because the end of that is hellfire. A true marriage founded by God will follow God’s design and receive God’s blessings:

“22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” Ephesians 5:22-25
