It is that time of year again, the world celebrates another wicked “helliday” called Halloween. In Celtic traditions, Halloween, or Samhain as it was called, was a day when the line between the living and the dead was blurred, according to History.com. On this day each year, Celtic priests known as Druids were able to communicate with the spirit world and bring back fortunes for the coming year.
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:11
Halloween is a day of darkness and witchcraft. Witches perform rituals with dead animals and other abominations on this day. The world has been desensitized to witchcraft and see it as “harmless fun” thanks to the Satanic entertainment industry producing the Harry Potter Series, Twilight, and many others. Deceived people do not realize they are participating in something that God hates and they are offending Him by celebrating Halloween, why offend the one that has died to save you from a burning Hell?
“11 And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds: 12 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers: 13 Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.” Micah 5:11-13
But putting on a costume and going Trick Or Treating has nothing to do with witchcraft right? Wrong. Halloween Costumes came from ancient tradition that during this time supernatural beings and the souls of the dead wandered the earth. They would wear costumes to disguise themselves so the wicked spirit could not recognize them or believe they were one of them, that is why the costumes were usually scary like a goblin or ghost. Should a Christian have anything to do with this? The answer is no, we are to be set apart from the wicked traditions of the world, this custom has origins in darkness and we know that we can not have both darkness and light.
“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” 1 Thessalonians 5:5
Halloween celebrates darkness, mummies, goblins, ghouls, vampires, witches, cemeteries and overall death. Is this something that Jesus who rose from the dead to conquer death would approve of?
“But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.” Proverbs 8:36
Finally there is a blatant hypocrisy in Halloween. Christians that street preach with hellfire and brimstone signs get scolded for “scaring the kids” or being too graphic. People with anti-abortion signs get scolded and complained about because the pictures of a murdered pre born child are too gorey and “scare the kids” and “disturb people”. Meanwhile they have no problem watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre in front of their kids, taking them to realistic haunted houses like “7 Floors of Hell” or “Bloodview” and too many other things to list.
“15 Unto the pure all things are pure*: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” Titus 1:15-16
