God’s Animals

God created animals and let Adam name all of them. Animals have been a blessing for people on earth since the beginning of time and are an important part of God’s Creation.

“And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.” Genesis 2:19

Whatever Adam called the animal is what the name is now. Cats are cats because Adam called them cats, same with all other creatures. Even though he may not have said it in English the name comes from what Adam called the animal. According to the Bible righteous people treat animals well. We should never hurt or abuse animals. Yes some animals are raised for meat or milk but that does not mean they should ever be abused or neglected. All animals are a life that should be cared for and respected by us as a creation of God.

“A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.” Proverbs 12:10

Since Jesus created animals they are certain to have certain characteristics in which He intended for them all. He uses animals to comfort us. Jesus knew that the cat that sits on your lap and purrs after a long and stressful day would help you and give you peace. Jesus knew that the dog who is happy to see you when you get home would make you feel loved and appreciated. Many times animals are way more loyal than people. They for the most part show unconditional love. Do we love God as much as our dog loves us? Our dogs count on us for everything, for food and shelter, vet visits, etc. We count on God for everything or else we could not live. Even the animals that are in the wild and do not have humans taking care of them God takes care of.

“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” Matthew 6:26

Do animals go to Heaven when they die? Nowhere in the Bible does it say that animals are redeemed like humans are or have eternal souls the same way humans do. But animals never turned their backs on God like people did. One thing is certain is that there are animals in Heaven.

“6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Isaiah 11:6-9

Will you see your pets that passed away in Heaven? God says that He will wipe every tear away from your eyes. Did you cry and mourn the death of a pet? Is God able to re create your special pet in Heaven? Of course He can. The Bible says He will make all things new. We just need to trust God and be thankful for the gift of our pets and whatever He decides to do with our relationship with our pet in eternity is His decision and we know it will be right and best for us because He is God.

“4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” Revelation 21:4-5
