I Got Plenty Of Time

“I got plenty of time” is what a lot of people think or say when they hear that they need to get right with God and receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They may hear a convicting message or sermon but then put it off as something to worry about later. This attitude is nothing new as they were doing it to Ezekiel when he prophesied back in the days of Ancient Israel. They heard the message but were in denial that it was applicable to the time they were living in because they wanted to enjoy life at the moment rather than getting things right with God:

“27 Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off. 28 Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord God.” Ezekiel 12:27-28

God was irritated at their attitude and told Ezekiel to tell them that He was not prolonging His judgment any longer. Today people want to blow off the warnings, figuring that they can wait until later in life to repent and get saved. They enjoy going out and getting drunk, fornicating and living life on the edge too much at this point in their life to want to even think about changing. But the thing is that every breath they have is a gift and their soul may be required when they least expect it:

“19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?” Luke 12:19-20

The Devil can entertain people with all kinds of sin for as long as they want. And sin will not always bring immediate consequences and it can deliver a lot of pleasure to the sinner that it just seems right at the time.

” There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12

There are many people in Hell that were waiting on the “right time” to get it right with God and repent. They never thought that they would have gotten into that car accident, got hit by that stray bullet, had that unexpected heart attack, slipped on ice and smacked their head and ended up in eternity long before that “right time” ever came. The Bible says today is the day of salvation:

“(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” 2 Corinthians 6:2

It angered God back in the days of Ezekiel and it no doubt makes Him angry today that people are putting off the clear warnings of imminent judgment to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. There are so many who are in such heavy denial of the times where we find ourselves in. There is no doubt that time is running out as the world grows more and more wicked and away from God every day and it is going to start getting harder for people to be in denial over this after some of the things which are about to happen start coming to pass. No one knows the exact date but the signs of the times are pointing to it and we need to watch.

“Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 25:13
